Medway Queen
The Medway Queen Preservation Society is a UK registered charity (296236)
The Medway Queen Preservation Society and Parkwood Camera Club are jointly running a digital photography competition. All entries will be judged on the following rules.

The competition will be divided into the following categories:-
  • Work and Play on the Medway
  • Nature in and along the Medway
  • Riverscape of the Medway
In each of these categories there will be separate divisions for adult and children’s photographs. For this competition children are defined as under 12 years of age on Jun 30th 2013.

First, second and third certificates will be awarded in each category for adult entrants (There were no under 12 entrants).

There will also be an award for the "Best in Show" for the adult entrants. This award will be extremely unique.
The Medway Queen Preservation Society will be making a bespoke trophy using actual materials from the Medway Queen.

The results are now in.


The judge for this competition was Glyn Bareham LRPS CPAGB. Glyn who is a Premier Judge for ‘The Kent County Photographic Association’ (KCPA) and has previously judged many similar county level photographic competitions such as the ‘River Medway Photo Competition’

The "Best in Show" Trophy winner is FoxtrotSky2m, by Robin Hart-Jones.

Although this competition was for the general public, camera club members were also very welcome to participate as members of the public. The KCPA are giving their full support to this competition and all award certificates will reflect this by the inclusions of the text "Endorsed by the KCPA" and will include the Judges name as "Glyn Bareham LRPS CPAGB KCPA Premier Judge" on all certificates.

The winning entries and as many as possible of the other entries will be displayed at the Medway Queen Visitor Centre on Gillingham Pier on Saturdays 10th August and 17th August. Certificates will be presented on 10th August. The presentation time will be announced nearer the time.

The Medway Queen Visitor Centre is open from 11am to 4pm each Saturday.

Rules (Defined by MQPS)
  • Each photograph must be the work of the person submitting it.
  • Entries will be judged on technical merit as well as composure and artistic effect.
  • All images submitted must be of sufficient resolution to be printed at A4 size.
  • Each entrant may submit a maximum of 3 images in any category.
  • Any images deemed to be insensitive or offensive to the viewer will be removed and disqualified from the competition.
  • All image copyrights will remain with the photographer, however the Medway Queen Preservation Society reserve the right to reproduce images for their own publicity purposes.
  • The judge’s decisions are final in all cases.
  • Final date for uploaded entries for the competition was June 30th 2013. (Now closed)
